  maytag_a608 (22).JPG - I found a forum where other folks appreciate the longevity built into these machines, and of course collectively know all there is to know about keeping them alive.  I was not looking for the sort of advice suggesting I get with the program and buy new machines!  On http://www.automaticwasher.org I found the ideal group to help me.  I quickly learned the agitator would just pull right off (had I periodically lubed the driveshaft splines) and several tricks for stubbornly stuck agitators were suggested.
